Wanderlust 2016… First pages and… Gratitude!!!

I decided a while ago to join the Wanderlust online course, this is being run on the Everything Art ning…  and is hosted by Jamie and Kasia from Artist Trading Post, with a lot of amazing artists joining in the fun as teachers!

The course has started almost three weeks ago already, but only this week-end I was able to have my first play on Kasia’s first prompt. For those interested, it is still time to join up. You can find out the details HERE.
There are several parts to the course, one being an art journal. I looked avidely at Kasias’s video, won’t be sharing the « how » of it here – that’s for Kasia’s class to share of course. However, I’m pleased to share with you a few pics of my very first pages!

Just for the little story, I decided to use an Art journal offered by Karin to become my ‘Wanderlust book’, never started yet after a few months in my stash… Although I love it, really!

And, as Kasia encouraged us to play with chipboards, I also immediately thought to a very beautiful Steampunk chipboard gifted generously by Claudia recently..

We had to chose a word in the video…. So from this moment and as a consequence, the single word that came to me was « GRATITUDE »!

Gratitude to Karin who offered me this wonderful piece of her art, and this beautiful journal full of good smooth mixed media pages.

Gratitude to Claudia, who sent me from her own a wonderful tag and beautiful gifts in place of a sponsor for her Sandee and Amelie challenges (the sponsor never sent me anything!).
Gratitude to Jean and Malcolm from Crafty Individuals, from who I receive so amazing stamps, and for their confidence for very long now…
Gratitude to Tando Creative and to the ones of the team who chose me a long time ago to be part of their DT… (thinking to Karen in particular, this is such a fun and lovely lady! ^^ also uber-talented!). That has been my first opportunity to start as a proud DT member for a well-known brand of products I love… and to Andy Skinner for his great masks like the one I’m using today! (still among my fave ones!!).
Gratitude to Leandra and Mark from PaperArtsy for their wonderful stamps, paints and glazes, and other great stuff I couldn’t do without like their Treasure Golds (!), as well as all the Patwits for their wonderful kindness, support and art.
Gratitude for all my crafty friends from all the world and France of course, from who I have learned so much…. and who still give me a lot for some of them, so much friendship and love.
Gratitude to all the talented persons that spend a lot of time to host and/or manage some great inspirational blogs so full of ideas, tips and creativity, like the ones I’m entering at the end of this post… Sharing their amazing samples in details for our greater pleasure and just for the love of Art…
Finally, Gratitude to Kasia for her great video and to all the ones hosting or teaching Wanderlust!!! I’m super motivated! 🙂

Here are all my photographs… a bit of Decoart Crackle medium was added on the clocks and cogs which gives an interesting (gloss and lightly crackled) extra texture, but it is not possible to see the effect on my pictures, sadly…

On first painted and scratched background, I added stamping (using CI-305 ‘Clock and steampunk gentlemen’ for the first time – so happy to introduce this new stamp just bought on my beautiful finished background! -, stencilling (Andy Skinner’s Incognito), Distress inks and various sprays and a wonderful Steampunk chipboard offered to me by Claudia…

5-P1175617

I really love the texture of both pages, and this fabulous clock stamp…

4-P1175616

Also the Steampunk cogs and clocks chipboard element (that I cut in two, you can see here its raw wooden shape) is amazing like that, isn’t it?…

On the first page I wrote by hand with china ink the words ‘Time flies’… Thinking to that as I’m so much in the rush of life at the moment, and time flies so quickly, sadly…
And then ‘Gratitude’

and on the other page I added only the most important word in my thoughts, repeating it in bigger and bold letters using a black pen…  also creating a few china ink splatters here and there for adding to the worn and distressed look.

For reminder, this is the art Journal very beautiful cover made by Karin…

  L’ensemble encore une fois

And my whole spread again a last time 🙂

9-P1175622

I would like to enter this into the following challenges :

Anything But Cute – Challenge – Ring out the Old bring in the New (new CI-305 in my stash never used yet, as well as the Art Jounal Book I used)

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – Best Friends (everything chosen in my stash and these two first pages are all entirely dedicated to my best crafty friends)
Craft Stamper ‘Take It Make It’ Challenge -Inspiration: Take a Stamp (playing with CI-305 only here)

And I would finish this post by the words I read on Darcy’s blog, written by her at the end when she was sharing her own first Wanderlust pages… Gratitude to you too Darcy and all the artists who always encourage to develop our creativity and art skills!
Keep going, keep trying, keep hoping, keep doing, keep arting, keep on keeping on…
Thanks for looking, hugs and happy crafting!

Coco

Absolutely magical pages, Coco – the colours are of course very appealing to me, and I love the depth you’ve created in the paint layers. Fabulous use of the cog chipboards too, and a great choice of images to go with your steampunk look… and what a joyful post full of gratitude. Lovely lovely!

I am ashamed to say I have not managed to watch any of the videos, it is disappointing as I was very interested to start immediately.
This is such a beautiful post with your words of gratitude. I have gratitude also, that I can view your beautiful art, that I treasure your beautiful art and that you have been a good friend to me with your support and encouragement.

I admire you greatly for making the Wanderlust 2016 commitment of time, Coco. I fail to find the time each time I sign up for an online class, so I didn’t sign up for this one–although the roster of teachers are ones I know and love and many from whom I have taken classes in person. Your work here today gets an A+ from me, as I love all thing steampunk-ish and my favorite colors palette ever is brown/blue! You have a fan here, of course! Mwah!
