A Christmas box painted – Une boîte de Noël décorée

Catégorie : DT Crafty Individuals

Hi everyone,

I am starting today to show you my makes for the theme of the latest challenge on Crafty Individuals blog, which is ‘Winter Frost’. The entries have begun to appear here, so do take a look, hope you can link in your festive make soon too!

If you need a bit more inspiration before starting, on Jean’s post last evening you can see a box I made, featured beside some other lovely makes by the team…

So starting with this square box (measuring 12x12x12 cm) painted and decorated on the lid with the new super duper A Star In The East stamp from Crafty Individuals, love love love this stamp!!!

I went for a different look with this box because I usually stamp in black for a better definition (either directly or using tissue paper first), but for this particular occasion I stamped in Stazon teal blue ink instead.

The wooden box is a basic wooden plain box from Artemio. It was prepared for use by one good coat of Gesso, lightly sanded followed by lots of various paints (PA Fresco paints in limited edition for the first coat, using a mixture of Granny Smith + Captain Cook, then a coat of crackle glaze followed by Snowflake plus a bit of Titan Buff…) with further sanding in at some areas to make the colour underneath appear.

All the images all around the box and on the lid (except a few dimensional flowers at the bottom) are stamped directly by hand with Archival or Stazon inks, using several lovely CI stamps. All the sides are different of course… and I had also fun to make two little tags in shrink plastic, I love this stuff!!

My village is entirely painted with a fine brush and many colours of various paints, either my PA Fresco ones of in my decoArt range of paints. I love doing this, painting slowly and carefully tiny details…

My flowers at the bottom (CI-445) have been inked on a scrap of cardstock with Distress inks, fussy cut out and them embossed with Frosted Crystal EP. I also put a bit of Frosted Crystal onto the village, and Silver Dust glitter has been also poured lightly on the whole box, but the photo doesn’t render justice to it sadly.

It was not an easy piece to photograph to capture all the sparkly glitter and frosted crystal… But I was pleased with how it turned out!

Here’s a little photo of the box before the fun, with some of the materials I used.

 Stamps used/ Tampons utilisés

– The village from new CI-448

– The holly from CI-141

– The trees, star and deers from CI-257

– Four large festive words from new CI-446

– Two little tags from new CI-447

Hope you like my first sample, I will show you the following as soon as possible since I’m still VERY VERY VERY busy (far too much!!!!! Should not spend hours on such boxes I know 🙂
For all my regular followers and friends, please continue to be patient with me (sorry if I can’t reply always to your PMs too…), it’s a very difficult period where I have all my future workshops to plan, prepare and think about, in parallel to a huge amount of administrative tasks needed to structure well my new activity and due to the change of my life.
I’d like to enter this in:

Have a great week, many thanks for stopping by and looking. Take care all xx
